【 A Beautiful Family from Boston 】

Boston ... the name reminds me of the days when I was at a local university majoring in "American Studies." Focusing on American history around 1770’s, Boston was one of the MUST places to visit, questioning "what is America" or trying to define "what is the American people."
So it was a great pleasure to know that a family has emailed to me for the first time, for an sitting appointment at our studio ... yes! they are from Boston!
Japanese tradition - "753"
Pronouncing "she-chey-go-sun", a traditional event to celebrate the sound growth of children, at the age of five for boys and of three and seven for girls.
This tradition is said to be started among samurai family and strong merchants in the Edo era (1603-1867), and spread widely to the people in the Meiji era (1868-1912).
Nowadays, children usually dress up in kimono (girls) or hakama (boys), and parents take them to shrines to pray for their healthy growth and longevity.
Graduates from Kyoto University
Parents of this cute girl are both graduate from Kyoto University, which is located right in front of our studio. That means, this town Yoshida is special to them as well as thousands of other graduates.
We appreciate the family for reaching us, for sharing a great time with us, and for bringing in a fresh air of Boston.
We look forward to seeing them all next time.
